Today is International Self-Care Day, and we know you’ll probably see a lot of posts about taking a walk, journaling, and meditating, so we thought we’d offer you some more interesting ideas.
- Drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and hear your own echo (yes, howl into that beautiful nature).
- Public karaoke with no music. Who can sing the loudest?
- Get those pets in. Go to a dog park, cat cafe, local farm, or an animal rescue and *pat pat*
- Create a splatter painting. Ugly paintings are available for destruction at local thrift stores!
- BYOB: Bring Your Own Blanket! Round up the family or invite your friends over to make an epic blanket fort.
- All day game day (video games, board games, capture the flag?)
- Go to a thrift store with your friends and buy each other a totally weird outfit, put the outfits on, then go to dinner.
- Find a script for a play/musical online and improvise the show.
- Two words: food fight
- No pool? No problem – get a cheap kiddie pool, have a water balloon war, or play in a sprinkler. (We don’t care how old you are)
There is no singular approach to self-care.
Enjoy yourself!
Have fun with life!
While we always advocate for self-care, sometimes it doesn’t feel like enough to manage mental health concerns. If you could use some extra support, please contact us.
